Last week 5JM and 5FM went on a great trip to Ewden Yorkshire Water Works. Both classes had a really good time there and we learnt lots of new and interesting facts about how water is recycled. While we were there, walked to the reservoir and visited the Treatment Works
Before we looked around the site,we went on a walk with John and Sarah to see the reservoir where all the water is collected before it is cleaned. 5JM were so lucky because they had the opportunity to look inside a water tower and see a massive a water pump at work! During our walk, our task was to use a map to identify the different features around the dam. Mrs Mulroy loved the views across the dam. She thought they were amazing. The walk made everybody hungry so when we returned to the site we ate our sandwiches really quickly.
After lunch we split into two groups. One group stayed behind to learn about the water cycle and the different stages that water has to go through so that we can use it in our homes for drinking. The other group toured the Treatment site. Our guide for the day was called Sarah who told us to wear special hard hats and earphones for safety reasons. It was extremely noisy inside the works, so it was a good job we were wearing our earphones!
When we got back to school we wrote a letter to say thank you for our great day out!
