Vitruvian Man is a one of Leonardo Da Vinci's greatest and world-renown drawings. In his sketch and notes he calcualted the proportions of the human body! As it was NO PENS day today, in our Maths lesson we tested some observations made by artist Leonardo Da Vinci about the proportions found in the human body. Such as your arm span is the same as your height. Take a look... We investigated lots of other things too: Do you measure up? Have a go at home with your parents too and let us know! •The whole foot from toe to heel is the same as the distance between the elbow and the wrist •The length of a hand is one tenth of the person’s height •The length of the ear is one third of the length of the face. •The length of a person’s outspread arms (arm span) is equal to their height •The distance from the elbow to the tip of the hand is one quarter of a person’s height •The length of the hand is one tenth of a person’s height •The foot is the width of four palms |
