All the maths group enjoyed this activity. Many people finished the cracker and went on to the next activity which were more difficult coordinates. Lots of people enjoyed this activity and would like to do it again. Some people were confused about remembering which way you have to plot the coordinates. So remember, along the corridor , up the stairs.
In maths we have been learning about coordinates. We had to plot the coordinates and join them together so in the end they turned out to be a Christmas cracker! Archie worked hard on his cracker and eventually worked out what it was.

During the last few days Y5 have been working on the digestive system. We have read about how food is digested in our body. After that we drew a diagram and labled it.Then we wrote a description about what happens.Do you know what the digestive system does? Here is a little show of what we had done. Maybe you could make one.

Take a look at our wonderful Organ Families! You can meet Mr Brain Box, Kelly Kidneys, Sally the Stomach, Harriet Heart, Iniesta Intestines and many more...We have been learning all about the organs in our body and finding out what their jobs are, its been great fun! Can you use our characters to find out what the liver and kidneys do? Next we are learning about the digestive system and we're going to use ComicLife on the iPad to create some more cool comics. We can't wait! In 5FM we were learning about our body and where different organs went and which way we had to put them.To find out where the organs went we got some big pictures of organs and were tested to see if we knew their names. Every one enjoyed sticking lot's of organs onto Shaun. He looked really funny with lots of great big organs but this isn't the real size of the organs inside you. These are the names of the organs we have used brain, lungs, heart, liver, stomach, kidneys and intestines. Do you know what these organs do? Vitruvian Man is a one of Leonardo Da Vinci's greatest and world-renown drawings. In his sketch and notes he calcualted the proportions of the human body! As it was NO PENS day today, in our Maths lesson we tested some observations made by artist Leonardo Da Vinci about the proportions found in the human body. Such as your arm span is the same as your height. Take a look... We investigated lots of other things too: Do you measure up? Have a go at home with your parents too and let us know! •The whole foot from toe to heel is the same as the distance between the elbow and the wrist •The length of a hand is one tenth of the person’s height •The length of the ear is one third of the length of the face. •The length of a person’s outspread arms (arm span) is equal to their height •The distance from the elbow to the tip of the hand is one quarter of a person’s height •The length of the hand is one tenth of a person’s height •The foot is the width of four palms |
